Scania press conference: 24 Sep 09:00 on the Scania stand (B06 in hall 17).
Among the trucks displayed: Scania R 400 from the Scania rental service, R 440 and R 480, all with Euro 5 EGR engines; P 380 lightweight tractor; and the top-of-the-line R 620 V8. The construction segment is represented by a new G 420 tipper and an R 440 heavy-duty hooklift truck.
Two distribution vehicles: Scania P 280 chassis with Euro 5 or EEV engine; P 280 with box body.
Special applications are represented by a Scania P 270 low-entry chassis with diesel-ethanol engine suitable for refuse collection or local distribution work. The low-entry cab offers easy entry and cross-cab access and the diesel-ethanol engine enables operators to run on a readily available renewable fuel. A 6-seat Scania CrewCab shows Scania’s offer for instance in the fire truck market; also available as an 8-seater.
Buses and coaches on display: Scania OmniCity low-floor; Scania Irizar i4 intercity coach; Scania Irizar PB luxury coach. A Scania OmniCity with ethanol engine is available for test riding.
New engine generation
The stand also proudly displays Scania’s leading engine technology. The relation between power and torque – a traditional Scania strength – is decisive to the performance of the vehicle and all Scania powertrains are optimised for fuel-efficient driving.
The new EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) engines meet Euro 5 emission standards without aftertreatment and without the need for additives – a breakthrough in engine technology. The comprehensive engine range is complemented by further Euro 5 and EEV (enhanced environmentally friendly vehicle) engines that meet the toughest existing environmental standards in Europe.
Scania’s new 9-litre diesel-ethanol engine gives operators the option of running on the most readily available renewable fuel on the market with CO2 savings of up to 90%.
Driver focus
For Scania, the driver is always at the centre because he or she has a decisive influence on road safety, fuel consumption, operating economy, accident avoidance and environmental impact. The show also marks the launch of the Scania driver competition “Young European Truck Driver 2009″. Drivers interested in participating are welcome to register on the Scania stand.
Services galore
The issue of efficiency also revolves around the many services offered by Scania. Scania’s service portfolio comprises some 30 different offers, a selection of which are presented on the stand. Also highlighted is Scania’s new driver training platform that complies with the EU directive on driver competence now entering into force.
Scania is extending its rental offer in Germany by also including curtainsider or reefer semitrailers.
