The new Scania R-series truck is not only the truck of the year 2010. It’s also the first prize in the Young European Truck Driver 2010.
Scania’s solid engineering, vast product range and comprehensive sales and service support constitute an attractive proposition for construction work. A typical selection of trucks is exhibited at Bauma 2010 (stand 201, hall B4), along with engines for industrial applications (stand 402, hall A4).

The Scania Driver Competitions 2010 launch today, starting a year long search across 28 countries to find the world’s best truck drivers. Over 45,000 drivers are expected to enter throughout the year.
Fuel economy, road safety and manoeuvring tests as well as knowledge about securing cargo are just a few things you have to master to be successful in Scania Driver Competitions 2010.
The power, the feeling and that unmistakeable sound – they are part of what makes Scania’s V8 engine a legend. Add excellent fuel economy in its output segment, the reputation of being almost unburstable and having an excellent trade-in value, and you have a combination that’s hard to beat. The strong reputation built by the original 14-litre engine is being carried to new heights with the 16-litre version launched in 2000.
When Scania unveiled its 350 hp 14-litre V8 engine at the end of the 1960s, it was Europe’s most powerful truck engine, and it held that distinction for many years. The V8 made Scania the King of the Road.
During the development process, working on the performance of the new engine, the engineers coined the concept of ‘driveability’. Driveability characterises how an engine behaves, together with the rest of the powertrain, while driving. Peak power is generally of secondary importance, but the torque characteristics are critical in determining how well the engine performs.
Ground-breaking engine technology, operating economy and professional support all the way.
Scania fleet management helps operators keep costs firmly in check. The service includes a data logging unit on-board the vehicle and communication with the office. The operator gets a comprehensive overview of how the fleet is running, which in turn contributes to lower fuel costs and helps motivate drivers. From 2009, digital tachograph data can be downloaded as well. The service, which includes GPS positioning, is fully compatible with a mixed fleet of vehicles.
